USA Visit

Earlier this year, 2º Bachillerato had the opportunity to meet face-to-face thirty students from New York, USA and their teachers.

The meeting was possible thanks to the Penfriend project operating since 2010, where over 260 Menesiano students write letters in English and Spanish to students at Division Avenue High School, Long Island, New York and Chico High School, California . Many of the visitors have been writing to the same Menesiano students all this time, and it was the first time they had met each other. As you can imagine, it was an emotional experience.

The New Yorkers arrived at the school at 9 o'clock in the morning and were taken on a tour of the school by Menesiano staff. At ten o'clock they were introduced to their penfriends and activities were organized so that all 2º Bachillerato students spent the entire day speaking English with them. In fact, the day was so enjoyable that most students chose to continue on to an afternoon meet-up in the city centre, finishing at 7pm.

The visit was interesting for the New York students and teachers to experience day-to-day life in a Madrid school and for Menesiano students it was a fantastic opportunity to meet English speakers of their own age and to indulge in real-life conversation.
